The Yellow Clown

Excerpt:

"Today at school, the yellow clown visited me at recess," Kayla told her older sister.

"The yellow clown?" Gayla asked. "Who is that?"

"I don't know but he said he wants to eat my legs."


NOTES:

Today I sketched out the first couple of paragraphs of the novel. While the writing is not complete or edited, it is a good start.

Beginning

1. Outlined the novel from start to finish.
2. Developed characters with strength and weakness, wants, enemies.
3. Developed enemies with drive and ambition, complexity.
4. Gave the characters names based on their personality.


NOTES:

I've been wanting to incorporate the Toad's Hollow short stories into a novel for some time now, so when a new idea for weaving everything together came knocking, I answered.

The goal is to have the first rough draft done by Halloween 2010. This blog is to serve as a blueprint for the writing process. If the novel turns out, great! I can use this blueprint for another one! If not, I can see where I went wrong and start afresh.

So far, so good!
